My Dad Rocks! Father’s Day Craft
It’s almost Father’s Day! We love making special gifts for daddy because he’s the best, and he loves having pictures of his baby. I don’t think his phone/computer screen saver has been anything but pictures of his baby since she was born 😝.
This Father’s Day craft was super simple to put together, budget friendly, and super cute!
Norah loves picking up rocks when she’s outside. So, when I saw these adorable “My Dad Rocks” signs on Pinterest, I thought, now that’s perfect.
Materials:
*Construction paper (1 sheet)
*Foam sticker letters (Mine were leftover from teaching. I know I found them at Walmart back in the day. Here is a link to some from Amazon).
*Picture frame (I used a 5×5 size because that’s what my picture ended up being- Amazon)
*Rocks.. free because we picked them up outside
*Gorilla Glue
Here are the steps!
Step 1- Create Your Sign
We started by making a paper sign that said “My Dad Rocks.” I used leftover construction paper that I had on hand and foam stick letters that I had leftover from teaching.
Simply, lay your letters out the way that you want them, and then stick them down.
Step 2- Time for a Photo Shoot!
Sometimes, she was really mad at me. 😂
This was by far the most difficult part. Probably because my kid isn’t even two yet, and I set my expectations too high…toddlers can’t hold signs. I tried many things, but what ended up working best for us was placing the sign on the ground next to her. Then, I would start singing to get her to look up at me 😂. If your kid is older, this part may not be so hard.
Step 3- Print Your Pictures
I used Costco photo center for our pictures. I like that they allow you manually crop each photo. That’s how I figured out that the picture I liked best would only work as a 5×5. As a 4×6, important parts of the photo were cut out.
Step 4- Get a Frame!
Once I knew what picture I was going to use, I ordered my picture frame. I got this pretty, grey 5×5 frame on amazon for $10. I’m really happy with it!
Note: Make sure to pick a frame that has enough room around the edges for gluing your rocks.
Step 5- Time to Collect Rocks 😊
Norah loves collecting rocks anyway, so it wasn’t difficult to get her to do that. We took an Easter basket outside, and just picked ten rocks or so. It was a really fun activity. She would pick them up and show them to me, I would tell her something about them (ex: “wow, look at that pretty, red, rock!”), and then she would stick it in the basket. It was a good time!
Step 6- Glue Your Rocks
I placed the rocks where I thought they looked best. Then, I used Gorilla glue to stick them down. I let it dry overnight. I’m not 100% sure how well the glue holds long term. However, it’s been a few days, and all of the rocks are still secure
Have fun, enjoy your crafting time with your kiddos, and I hope you all have a lovely Father’s Day!😘

Hello! I'm Megan, the author of Home and Holidecor. I am a wife, mama, and interior decorator. Whether I am decorating inside of a home, an outdoor space, or decorating for a party/event, making a space look beautiful and special is what I love to do. To me, decorating is an art form. How you decorate your home, tells your personal and family story. Decorations at your wedding tell your love story. Your dream backyard or garden reveals your personal oasis. I think that's why I love it so much because it's almost like writing a story with furniture, paint, light fixtures, and picture frames. “Your home should tell the story of who you are, and be a collection of what you love,” – Nate Berkus.
