New Kitchen Backsplash

Alright, so this is something that I 💯 knew I would not want to tackle as a DIY. My husband has informed me that tiling for a backsplash or a walk in shower is something that’s very difficult, and should be done by a professional. That’s why it’s taken us three years to save up money and get it done. I know it stinks to wait but I’m so glad that I did because now, every time I look at my cute little kitchen, I feel like I’m in some adorable, farmhouse inspired coffee house, and I LOVE IT!😍

Here’s the before and after, so you can get a feel for how big of a difference it’s made to add a backsplash. It added so much more contrast and personality.

For anyone local to Prescott, AZ, we went through Barrett Floors to have our backsplash professionally installed. We’ve also used them in the past to have some new carpet put into our daughter’s room, they did a wonderful job.

We chose the 3×6 white subway tile and the charcoal grout color. There’s tons of options so good luck making a quick decision 👍😂

Originally, we discussed doing a shiplap backsplash because it was a cheaper option. However, we decided that for long term purposes, tile was the best option because it can be easily wiped clean, and it makes such a statement. Often times, it’s very difficult for me to choose the more expensive option, but in this case, I’m glad that we waited and picked the material that will work better for our family ling term.

If you’re planning a backsplash installation in the future, my advice would be to get a quote (multiple quotes if you aren’t sure what company you want to use) and then save up for that look you’ve been dreaming of. Not everyone can afford $20,000 (plus) kitchen remodel all at once. It’s ok if it takes a few years to make it what you want. Every step in the process is an exciting step towards your Pinterest worthy vision 😘

Hello! I'm Megan, the author of Home and Holidecor. I am a wife, mama, and interior decorator. Whether I am decorating inside of a home, an outdoor space, or decorating for a party/event, making a space look beautiful and special is what I love to do. To me, decorating is an art form. How you decorate your home, tells your personal and family story. Decorations at your wedding tell your love story. Your dream backyard or garden reveals your personal oasis. I think that's why I love it so much because it's almost like writing a story with furniture, paint, light fixtures, and picture frames. “Your home should tell the story of who you are, and be a collection of what you love,” – Nate Berkus.
