Personalized Book Stack for Home Decor (DIY)

Materials:

*3 used, hardcover books of similar size (found mine at goodwill)

*chalk paint

*foam paint brush

*ribbon of choice and tie sting of choice ( I used black and white buffalo check ribbon and natural twine)

*hot glue gun

*tool for lettering (I used my Cricut machine but I’ve also cern these made with stamps and stencils)

Steps:

1. Paint the front and back of the book covers. In addition, paint the inside of both covers. Don’t forget the edges! You may need 2-3 coats. Set aside to dry.

2. Create your personalized wording and apply to the dry books. Get creative! You can use family names, favorite phrases, special dates, song lyrics, etc. you can also create holiday versions of these using festive paint colors and holiday phrases (ex: “It’s just a bunch of Hocus Pocus!, or “Merry and Bright”)…. For my project I used our family’s names and an Irish Gaelic phrase that means “love of my heart”

3. Wrap your ribbon tightly around the books and hot glue to secure. Then wrap the twine around the ribbon and tie a bow. At this point, you can be finished but I’ve also seen people add a sprig of greenery (tied in with the twine)

Make it yours! Create what’s reflective of your life 😊 Have fun personalizing your home ❤️

Warmly,

Megan

Hello! I'm Megan, the author of Home and Holidecor. I am a wife, mama, and interior decorator. Whether I am decorating inside of a home, an outdoor space, or decorating for a party/event, making a space look beautiful and special is what I love to do. To me, decorating is an art form. How you decorate your home, tells your personal and family story. Decorations at your wedding tell your love story. Your dream backyard or garden reveals your personal oasis. I think that's why I love it so much because it's almost like writing a story with furniture, paint, light fixtures, and picture frames. “Your home should tell the story of who you are, and be a collection of what you love,” – Nate Berkus.
