Welcome to Home and Holidecor! A Blog About Home and Holiday Decorating on a Budget
Welcome Fellow Decor Lovers!
Do you love decorating your home for the holidays? Do you envision knocking down walls, replacing windows and doors, ripping out your builder grade floor tiles in order to put down something far more fitting of your personal style? Do you look around your house and visualize all of the ways that you would love to personalize your space? Do you then realize that all of the magnificent ideas swirling around in your head cost a lot of money that you simply do not have?
I have just described to you my daily thought process. I have a passion for decorating and renovating. Unfortunately, my skills and bank account do not coincide with my costly vision. I have learned to embrace the DIY lifestyle. When I see a beautiful Pinterest picture, I immediately ask my husband, “Would this be a realistic DIY project?” Sometimes, he gives me the go ahead and sometimes he brings me back down to earth. We are a good balance that way. So, if you are like me, and you wish with every fiber of your being that somehow the universe would drop Chip and Joanna Gaines on your doorstep for a special edition of Fixer Upper, but it just hasn’t happened yet, and you have therefore decided to take on the jobs yourself; this blog is for you.
As a young married couple with two children, a mortgage, and a single income, our family is on a tight budget. We love our home very much and it has a been a labor of love trying to renovate it over the last six years. There is still a lot more to do, but we have come very far. Because most of the work has been done by us, my father in- law, and other family members who have been kind enough to chip in, I feel that it’s important to share what we’ve learned, and how it can be accomplished on a budget.
In this blog, you will find ideas, tips, inspiration, and DIY tutorials for home and holiday decorating on a budget. I will be sharing “How To’s” for any and all projects completed within our home. I am sharing in the hopes that it is helpful to those of you, who like me, have big dreams for your home but who also need to pay your bills and feed your families.
So start browsing! Check out some of our already completed projects. There are categories for Home Decor, Holiday Decor, and DIY (Wreaths/Signs/Decorations). You can also visit the “Meet the Author” page for more background on me and our little family :).
I am so happy you are here!
Warmly,
Megan

Hello! I'm Megan, the author of Home and Holidecor. I am a wife, mama, and interior decorator. Whether I am decorating inside of a home, an outdoor space, or decorating for a party/event, making a space look beautiful and special is what I love to do. To me, decorating is an art form. How you decorate your home, tells your personal and family story. Decorations at your wedding tell your love story. Your dream backyard or garden reveals your personal oasis. I think that's why I love it so much because it's almost like writing a story with furniture, paint, light fixtures, and picture frames. “Your home should tell the story of who you are, and be a collection of what you love,” – Nate Berkus.
